The Fort

The Jaisalmer Fort also known as the Golden Fort stands high on a small hillock at a height of 80 metres. The fort has within some picturesque havelis, palaces and 12th-15th century AD Jain temples. The fort has four gateways - Akhaiyal, Hava Pol, Ganesh Pol and Suraj Pol.

Manak Chowk

The Manak Chowk is the nearest and most ideal market outside the fort from where the tourists can purchase the memorable souvenirs and artefacts.

Gadsisar Lake

The Gadsisar Lake is a freshwater lake, a perfect picnic spot with beautiful shrines and a wide variety of bird species to boast of.

Havelis

The palacious mansions called 'Havelis' in the native language are worth a visit for the tourists visiting Jaisalmer. Depending on the facade, these havelis can be divided into:

Nathmalji-ki-Haveli

This late 19th century Haveli has well decorated interiors with the walls having miniature paintings. The left and right wings of the Haveli are entirely different from each other but still share a common symmetry.

Patwon-ki-Haveli

The five storied Patwon ki Haveli has the carved pillars, corridors and chambers and is also painted with beautiful murals.

Salim Singh-ki-Haveli

The former haveli of the prime minister of Maharaja Rawal Gaj Singh-Salim Singh is one of the oldest havelis in India and Rajasthan. This 300-year-old haveli is made of yellow sandstone with delicately made and intricately carved balconies and interiors.

Jain Temple

The three Jain temples are dedicated to the Jain Tirthankars Rishabhdev,Sambhavnath and Paraswanath.

Gyan Bhandar or Library

Inside the Jain temples in Jaisalmer, there is a library that houses some of the oldest manuscripts concerned with Jainism.
