Camel Safari in Rajasthan

Nothing ventured nothing gained, and a camel safari taking you through the sand dunes of the Thar desert in Rajasthan is surely an experience of a lifetime. Majority of the camel safaris in Rajasthan originate at Jaisalmer.

Jaiselmer and Pushkar Camel Safari services

Jaisalmer, a desert city par excellence, is the birthplace of the Rajasthani camel safari. This Golden city itself boasts many places of interest, including a stunning 12th century sandstone fort, wonderful palaces, exquisite havelis and a Jain temple adorned with fine sandstone carvings. But it is virtually impossible to leave this Rajasthan city without venturing into its golden wilderness. It provides a romantic opportunity to cross the barren sands on a ship of the desert, sleeping under the sky in the starlit night.

Camel safaris in Rajasthan comprise many grades and cover a variety of routes. One can travel for up to two weeks by camel from Jaisalmer to Bikaner, treks normally last from one to four days. In general the cheaper the trip the less it includes, in terms of food, blankets, fitness of camel, and so forth. You will also encounter freelance camel owners, who are ready to offer their services for somewhat low prices. But the quality of services may suffer. All in all, it will be a good idea to go through a recognized agency or hotel.

Most of the Rajasthani safaris head west of Jaisalmer through places such as Sam sand dunes, Amar Sagar, Lodurva, Bada Bagh and assorted small villages. There is a universal complain that sightseeing becomes the focal point in these safaris. However it has to be maintained here that you have the discretion of arranging a few days' stroll through the Thar landscape without stopping at any monuments.
